Sesame

Olam has been in the sesame business for more than a decade and enjoys a strong leadership position. We started the business from Nigeria and East Africa, where we had synergies of cost-sharing with other products in our Group portfolio. Over time we have improved our presence across origins and markets thereby expanding our participation across trade flows, and are a preferred supplier to some of the world’s big sesame customers. In Turkey we have a sesame processing plant in Samsun in the Black Sea Region for applications that require a hulled or edible grade sesame. The product from this plant is ready to be used as ingredients in the kitchen and bakery. Olam is a pioneer in successfully processing edible-grade sesame and hulled sesame.
